The array of culinary options on offer in Terrassa enables visitors to discover the traditional dishes from the city and its county, including game and wild mushrooms, a local cake called Palaudina, dishes made with ganxet beans, a traditional product of the Vallès Occidental and Vallès Oriental region with a Protected Denomination of Origin, and a wide range of restaurants catering for all tastes.

Autumn of Game and Wild Mushrooms in Terrassa

In October, 12 years ago, the "Tardor de caça i bolets a Terrassa" (Autumn of Game and Wild Mushrooms in Terrassa) campaign was launched which is designed to promote wild mushrooms and traditional autumn cooking among residents and visitors. The reason for focussing on game and wild mushrooms is Terrassa's long-standing mushroom gathering and hunting traditions which have grown out of its proximity to the Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac National Park.

The project brings together for the first time all the activities connected with hunting and wild mushrooms which had been carried out in the city in recent years, such as the Setmana del Bolet (Wild Mushroom Week) and the Jornades Gastronòmiques de la Caça i del Bolet (Game and Wild Mushroom Days). New features have also been introduced in order to promote the campaign outside the city. The campaign is run from October to November every year.

Palaudina

Since 1996, Terrassa has had its own special cake, the Palaudina. It is a cylindrical-shaped cake based on the Torre del Palau (Palace Tower), a symbol of the city. It is made with almonds, hazelnuts, eggs, sugar, chocolate and ratafia flavouring. It was invented as a result of an initiative by the Terrassa Gremi de Pastissers (Pastry Makers’ Association).

Terregada Sausage

Produced in Terrassa, this cooked sausage is very different from the rest. Made with pork offal, onion, tomato, garlic, almonds, stale wine, salt and black pepper, it is a completely natural sausage with no additives. It can be eaten cold, in salads and sandwiches, or with tomato bread, fried in extra virgin oil and served on toasted bread with a dab of all-i-oli (garlic mayonnaise), or accompanied by ganxet beans. It can be found in local markets and specialist stores.
